This heartwarming true story tells how cats change our lives for the better. Flynn and his fiancé bought a house to start what he thought would be the beginning of many blissful years together.
A Ginger cat, who he referred to as Kitty, frequented the yard. He kept coming back time and time again as if he knew he had a mission to help this human.
Flynn, who was not a cat person, became curious about the cat. Did he live nearby? Had he visited the house before Flynn bought
He learned the cat had come to hang around the house periodically for a couple of years. Then, he’d disappear, only to return some time later.

It was the Summer of 2006 when Flynn met Kitty. While he was originally just a kitty, he quickly became The Kitty, and he came to know it as his name. Something drew him to the house.

Paws received a copy of this book and no charge to review it, and we share our thoughts on this heartwarming story that tell how cats, especially that special cat, can change our lives forever. Order your of Shawn Flynn’s ‘The Kitty Who Rescued Me After I Rescued Him’ here.

As is often the case when finding a cat hanging around your home, he started buying cat food and leaving it on the back porch with a bowl of water. As Kitty appeared in good condition, he figured someone else probably was feeding him, too.
He also was a heck of a mouser, and Flynn often observed him in the grass looking for mice. As Flynn was working a lot around the outside of the house, Kitty would hang out with him, and they were becoming very fond of one another.
This was the summer Flynn got married. Flynn said it was the best summer of his life, but on Sept$ 22, it came to an abrupt end.
He came home to find a note from his new bride. She had sent him a Dear-John email. Despite this, he wanted to cling to make it work, and continued staying in contact with her through email. The following spring, they were divorced.
As it started to get colder, Kitty would try to come into the house. As Kitty was full of ticks and fleas, Flynn would quickly pick him up and take him outside.
Kitty started to visit
One day he came into the garage and snuggled up underneath Flynn’s workbench. He knew Kitty really wanted to come inside, so he installed a swinging two-way pet door.
That was the beginning of Kitty’s move from the outside, to the garage, and eventually to the house. Before succumbing to Kitty’s wishes to come inside, Flynn took him for his shots and flea and tick treatments. Remember that is important to also fumigate the house to prevent a infestation of fleas, for people living in Australia they can consult with pest control Glenroy how is the best way to get rid off them.
Over the course of that winter, Flynn came to the realization that Kitty had become his best friend. He had helped him get through the break-up with his ex-wife. He was always happy to see me when I got home waiting for him near the back door.
Kitty and Flynn would hang out while he made dinner or cleaned dishes in the evening. Flynn would talk to him and even sing to him, making up a song he made up to the tune of ‘Little Lover’ by AC/DC, but he’d sing ‘Kitty Lover’ instead.
That says it all. Kitty was not just a special cat, he was filling a void, and Flynn had become Kitty’s Dad. Even though Kitty was not a lap cat, they developed a very close bond through the years. He was Flynn’s
Kitty Rescued his Daddy
We at Paws are not going to tell you the entire story, here. Our goal is to share the story of how Kitty rescued his human.
That close bond between Kitty and his human was special and Flynn says it all when he says this in his Dedication, ‘To Kitty, my Kitty Boy, the Kitty Lover, my Sexy Lover Boy, the Original Kitty Lover, who rescued his Daddy after his Daddy rescued him, who not only stole his Daddy’s heart and turned him into a kitty lover, but turned him into a Kitty Lover. (One who would become devoted to helping cats, something he had never dreamed he would be doing). He and his girlfriend Carrie take care of several indoor and outdoor cats. He also volunteers with several cat rescue.
When Paws saw a posting on LinkedIn that Flynn had been at a book signing at a festival in Western Massachusetts, we reached out to him about reviewing his book. We didn’t know what to expect, and we certainly did not expect this rescue story to turn sad. However, as with all lives, Kitty became ill. After having lived with Flynn for nine years, he developed lymphoma. That was wretchedly sad. Flynn had to say good-bye to kitty.
Flynn sums up his relationship with Kitty when he says,
‘I could always count on his loyalty. While I knew that Kitty knew that I loved him, I also knew he loved me too. Kitty has such an impact on my life, more so than most people do. He taught me about what is most important in life – not cars or motorcycles or jobs, but relationships. He taught me, unconditional love. He had been there for me during one of my most difficult times and helped me survive the emotional pain of my divorce. It was almost like he knew that I was now with
