National Immunization Awareness Month for cats

August 1, 2021 @ 8:00 am - August 31, 2021 @ 5:00 pm

National Immunization Awareness Month for cats is celebrated every August. It is very important to keep your pets up to date on their vaccinations to keep them happy and healthy.
The greatest form of protection against the many illnesses your pet can get is by vaccinating them.

Here’s some info Paws wants to share during National Immunization Awareness Month for cats.

Kittens should get their first vaccinations at 8 weeks old. They will then need vaccination boosters every four weeks until they are about 20 weeks to be fully protected. It is very important to finish the entire vaccination series. Skipping booster vaccinations may leave your pet with incomplete protection, making them vulnerable to infection.

Here is a list of the common vaccines:

Feline Immunizations:
• Rabies
• FVRCP (Feline viral rhinotracheitis, calici virus, panleukopenia)
• FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus)
• Feline Bordetella

Deciding on which vaccines your pet needs can vary based on medical history, age, breed, lifestyle, and travel habits. Also, some states and cities require specific vaccinations by law. Talk to one of our veterinarians to help decide what is best for your pet based on these factors.
